Utah is best known for its winter activities. The famous state slogan 'The Greatest Snow on Earth? defines Utah?s commitment to winter sports Most of the ski resorts are located in northern Utah near the capital Salt Lake City or Park City . The Alta ski resort was home of the 2002 Olympics and rightfully so. With nearby Solitude Mountain ski resort, The Canyons, Park City, Deer Valley and Brianhead, Utah has all kinds of territory to ski on. This makes it possible for skiers to visit more than one resort in a single day. Alta is also one of the three remaining resorts in America that prohibits snowboarders! The other two resorts are Deer Valley and Mad River Glen in Vermont. When you come to visit Alta you can stay either in the Salt Lake City or Park City. Both cities offer the vacation guest top notch entertainment and quality hotel accommodations. There really are no hotels in Alta, so click on Park City to be by all the ski areas, or Salt Lake City to get hotels that service the resort.
